SCHOOL BOND ON NOVEMBER BALLOT:

MIDDLE SCHOOL RETENTION POLICY:

We want to take this opportunity to provide you with important information regarding the middle school retention policy. As you may be aware, the retention policy is in place to ensure that students are academically prepared for the challenges of high school. It is designed to support students who may benefit from additional time and resources to meet grade-level expectations. We believe every student has the potential for success, and this policy aims to provide the necessary support to help them reach their full potential.

After careful consideration and consultation with educators, parents, and students, we have revised the 8th-grade retention policy. These revisions are based on research, best practices, and all stakeholders' feedback.

8th Grade Retention Policy:

    1. 1.    Early Intervention: We are implementing a proactive approach to identify students who may be at risk of retention as early as possible. This will allow us to provide targeted interventions and support to these students before they fall behind.
    2. 2.    Individualized Support: We recognize that every student is unique and may require different types of support. Tutoring opportunities will be provided for those who need continued support.
    3. 3.    Comprehensive Assessment: The retention decision will not be based solely on one assessment or exam. Instead, a comprehensive evaluation of a student's academic progress, including classroom performance, assignments, projects, and assessments, will be considered.
    4. 4.     Parent Involvement: We greatly value the partnership between parents and the school. As part of the revised policy, we will actively involve parents in decision-making and provide regular updates on their child's progress. We believe these changes will better align the retention policy with our commitment to student success.

Our goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment that enables all students to thrive academically and personally. For those who do not take advantage of these resources will be recommended for retention.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the 8th-grade retention policy, please do not hesitate to contact Arete Charter Academy and Magnolia Intermediate.

Have a wonderful weekend!
